About Us

As is common with many new mothers, I learned to knit while pregnant with my first child (all those years ago).  The beauty and versatility of natural yarns drew my attention and I learned as much as I could about them. All natural fibres make an incredible difference - in your knitting, the health of our planet and the health of our children. Along the way, I taught myself to crochet, spin, and felt. Basically, if it had anything to do with natural fibres I was into it. And I'm an artist at heart so I found the traditional handcrafts a perfect medium for expressing myself creatively and naturally.  My first three children attended a Waldorf School where they also learned traditional handcrafts and I expanded my own skills to include doll making.

Throughout my careers as a Naturopathic Doctor and CEO of an international manufacturing business, I realized that the one thing that kept me grounded throughout both scholastic and professional careers was knitting... and crocheting... and felting... and... you get the idea.

So, calling upon my knowledge of the health benefits of working with natural fibres and handwork in general, Spun Fibre Arts became a way to share my passion with others. I envisioned Spun to be a safe space where people can gather and share their love of handcrafts, and learn new ones too!

We try our best to bring you products that positively affect our world. Even small things – like buying a ball of yarn – can have a major impact. We knitters and crocheters know how a simple ball of yarn can improve our lives and that of others, but we want to reach out beyond that.

We invite you to come and experience some of the joy and inspiration that natural fibres can bring to your life!
