Knit Hat Patterns

Harbour Hat

This pattern is available for C$3.99 CAD

Harbour Hat is an easy to knit, unisex hat that uses Luma by The Fibre Company, a blend of Merino, Cotton, Linen and Silk, to create a very soft and cozy hat.

You can wear it slouchy or roll up the oversized brim to make it a beanie.

Pick your favourite two colours and you are all set!

Two sizes M (20”) and L (22”). M would fit an average woman’s head, and L would fit an average man’s head.
The fabric will stretch due to the Cotton/Linen content, so the brim is knit with a tighter gauge.

You will need 2 skeins of Luma in different colours, and a 3.5 and 4.0mm circular for the brim and body of the hat. And your choice of dpn or magic loop for the crown shaping.

Little Beaver Hat

This pattern is available for C$4.99 CAD

I just loved making this pattern!! I have already had requests for older child and adult versions, so hopefully I will be able to get those done sometime in the near future…..? In the meantime, have fun making your little one into a forest creature!!

I have also used Diamond Luxury Fine Merino Superwash Aran and it works up just as wonderfully…….

Little Giraffe Hat

This pattern is available for C$4.99 CAD

Notes: I just realized I haven’t put the number of balls required for the project. You will need 2 balls of the main colour, and one ball of each of the 2 secondary colours.

Little Rooster Hat

This pattern is available for C$4.99 CAD

This pattern is the second in our Animal Hat Series ! I loved making the ear flaps look like chicken legs (oops I mean rooster legs!).

Have fun making this for your little one this winter…

McKinley Hat

This pattern is available for C$3.99 CAD

If you are like many parents, you are looking for a hat that will be snug around the face, cover the ears, and keep your little one’s neck warm. If your wee one is like many other wee ones out there, they dislike having something pulled over their heads.

Along comes McKinley… you can tailor the neck closure to be either fastened with buttons or pulled over the head like a balaclava (if you are lucky enough to be blessed with a child of the more cooperative variety). The brim around the face is hemmed to be doubly thick and cozy, and the colour combination variations ensures even the most discriminating tastes will be satisfied

You will only need one skein of Rhichard Devrieze fingering weight yarn (held double throughout) and one ball of Rowan Pure Wool Worsted to make either size.

Updated Pattern Notes: Latest version was done using Fynn by Yarns of Rhichard Devrieze. It is a worsted weight yarn, so no need to hold the yarn double, and I used 5mm needles throughout. I will be updating the pattern and re-releasing it soon with the new yarn suggestions.

Moffitt Hat

Moffitt Hat in Katia Concept Cotton Merino

This pattern is available for C$4.99 CAD

Classy, warm and dependable, just like the friend who inspired this hat design. A single row of cables adds that little “something” without taking anything away. Wear it slouchy, or fold the brim and wear it as a beanie; add a pom pom or leave it as is… there are many ways to make this hat your own!

Child size is 18”, Adult size is 20” brim.

Gauge: 18 sts = 4” stocking stitch using larger needles.

We have made this hat using Katia Concept Cotton Merino or Ancient Arts DK/light worsted, but any worsted weight yarn will work.

Scrappy Hat

This pattern is available for C$5.00 CAD

Grab all those bits and pieces of fingering weight yarn you’ve been holding onto because they are just too pretty to get rid of and get ready to have some fun!

The Scrappy Hat is a recipe for using up your scraps and minis as well as any other skeins you might want to use up (vacation yarn anyone…?). By holding 3 strands together you end up with an ever changing mosaic of colour that just makes you happy to look at!

Warning: Scrappy Hat knitting can become addictive. I finished 3 hats in the time it would normally take me to make one… and I haven’t stopped yet…

You will need a total weight of 100g. This can be a mish mash of yarns, including parts of larger skeins as well as small ends from old projects, as you will be mixing and matching as you go. The total yardage for all 3 strands is approximately 400 yards (yardage varies with various fingering yarn bases so it may be as much as 420 yards).

I encourage you to be bold and put colours together you would never thing of pairing normally. You will be pleasantly surprised with the results (I promise!).

Sizes: Adult Small (Medium, Large)
Circumference: 18” (20”, 22”)

Tag #scrappyhat with your finished hats on social media so I can admire your work!!

Trinity Peaks Hat

This pattern is available for C$4.99 CAD

Satisfy the explorer in you with this fun and functional beanie. Semilla is a wonderfully soft organic merino wool in vibrant saturated colours. As you can tell, it is one of my favourite yarns :)

This pattern has a small amount of stranded knitting, making it a good introduction to this technique without getting overwhelmed.

It is one size, and fits like an average Ladies Medium.

One ball of MC in DK weight and 20g of 3 contrast colours is all you need to make one for yourself.
